Private Tennis Lessons Singapore

Most players who look for a private coach have already tried something else. A group class that moved too fast, a friend who taught the forehand the way they learnt it, or a few years away from the court that left the strokes rusty. What they want now is simple: one coach watching every ball they hit, and a clear reason for every drill.

Private tennis lessons with TM Tennis Academy are one-hour, one-to-one sessions at your condo court or a booked public court. A single lesson is S$109, and packages bring the price down to S$100 a lesson for 12 lessons or S$95 a lesson for 20. Court fees are separate, and we can help you book an ActiveSG court.

What Private Tennis Lessons Give You That a Class Cannot

In a group, the coach splits the hour between several players, so most of your mistakes go unseen. In private tennis lessons, every swing you make is watched, and a correction lands on the very next ball rather than at the end of the drill.

That changes how fast a habit is fixed. A late contact point or a grip that slips under pressure is easy to spot when there is only one player on the court, and easy to miss when there are four. You also choose what the hour is spent on, instead of following a programme set for the class.

How a First Private Lesson Usually Runs

We start by watching you play. A short rally, a few serves and some movement drills tell us more than any description of your level, so the first part of the lesson is spent on that before anything is changed.

From there we pick one or two things to work on and leave the rest for later sessions. Trying to fix everything in one hour rarely works; fixing the one thing that holds the rest back usually does. You leave with a clear note of what we worked on and what to practise before the next lesson. If you would like to see how we coach before buying a package, our tennis trial class guide explains what a first session covers.

Private Tennis Lessons for Beginners and Returning Players

Beginners often think private coaching is only for advanced players. In practice it suits beginners well, because the basics are where bad habits form. Grip, ready position, footwork and a relaxed swing are far easier to learn correctly the first time than to unlearn later.

Returning players have a different problem. The strokes return quickly, but timing and movement lag behind, and old faults reappear with them. One-to-one sessions let us rebuild the parts that have faded without repeating the parts you still do well. Our guide on how to improve your tennis forehand shows the kind of detail we work through on the court.

Coaching Experienced Players One to One

Club and social players usually come to us with a specific goal. A second serve that breaks down in a tight game, a backhand that only works from the baseline, or a habit of losing points at the net. These are problems a general class rarely has time for.

For these players, private tennis lessons focus on patterns rather than single strokes. We build drills that copy the situations where the point is usually lost, then repeat them until the right choice becomes automatic. The aim is a game that holds up in a match, not one that only looks good in practice.

Private Lessons for Kids and Teenagers

Children respond well to one-to-one coaching because the session can follow their attention span. Drills stay short, the coach changes the activity before boredom sets in, and progress is easy for parents to see from week to week.

Teenagers who already play at school often use private sessions to sharpen one part of their game before competition. If your child would enjoy learning alongside others their age, our kids tennis lessons explain the options for younger players.

Where Private Tennis Lessons Take Place

We do not own a tennis court, so the lesson comes to a court near you. Many of our students train at their own condo court, which is usually free for residents and saves travel time. Our page on condo tennis lessons explains how that works.

If you do not have a condo court, we can help you book a public court through ActiveSG, or you can book the court yourself and the coach meets you there. ActiveSG allows each user to book two tennis slots a day, so a regular weekly lesson is easy to keep. Court fees are paid separately from the lesson.

Private Tennis Lesson Prices and Packages

A single private lesson is S$109. Packages lower the price of each lesson: 4 lessons are S$436, 8 lessons are S$840, 12 lessons are S$1,200 and 20 lessons are S$1,900. On the 20-lesson package each lesson works out to S$95, and the package is valid for six months from the first lesson.

If two players want to share the coach, pair lessons cost S$119 for both players together. For a full comparison of group, pair and private rates, read our guide to cheap tennis lessons in Singapore.

Who Coaches Your Private Lessons

Our coaching team includes coaches certified by the Singapore Tennis Association, and every coach on our team works from the same approach: watch first, change one thing at a time, and explain why. We would rather you understand a correction than simply copy it.

We may assign or change the coach for a lesson, but your coach always works from the notes of your earlier sessions, so nothing has to be explained twice. Lessons should be booked at least three working days ahead, which gives us time to arrange the court and the coach.

Getting the Most From Private Tennis Lessons

The players who improve fastest treat the lesson as the middle of their week, not the end of it. A correction that is practised once or twice before the next session sticks; one that is left alone fades by the following week.

Weekly lessons work well for most players, because there is enough time between sessions to practise and not so much that the last lesson is forgotten. When you are ready to start, message us with your preferred court and timing, and we will suggest a coach and a weekly slot. If you are still deciding between formats, our pair tennis lessons let two players of a similar level share one coach.

How many private lessons does a complete beginner need?

It depends on how often you practise. Most beginners can rally comfortably after a few months of weekly sessions. A package of 12 lessons gives enough time to build the basics and see clear progress.

If a lesson is stopped within the first 30 minutes, only a 30-minute fee is charged. If it is stopped after 30 minutes, the full fee applies, and any remaining time may be carried forward to another session.

Yes. Cancelling more than 24 hours before the lesson costs nothing. Between 12 and 24 hours before, half the lesson fee is charged, and under 12 hours or a no-show is charged in full.

A racket of your own helps, but you do not need one for a first lesson. Tell us when you book, and the coach can advise you on a suitable racket size and weight before you buy one.
